About the Book

After centuries on Earth searching for people like herself, Chloe knows that magic is a terrible burden. When she screams her loneliness to the void of space, magical humans find her and drag her through a portal to another planet in the future. However, their portal goes wrong and she struggles to survive alone until she’s rescued by a man as magical as she is.

Her rescuer, who is the leader of one of the ruling political parties of a galactic society, doubts her origins. To her horror, he forces awake a new magic within her that reveals the truth from her mind. She discovers she was conceived for a political purpose and that her exile to the past was orchestrated by the fascist leaders of a rival political party. Now they know she’s back, the fascists insist she help them take over the government, using her new magic that’s wrapped up in sex and mind control.

Her rescuer repeatedly helps her resist the fascists’ control, but truly supporting her means risking impeachment or even assassination. With the democracy of her new society in peril, Chloe must decide if she’s willing to risk enslavement to fully awaken her dangerous mental magic and if she’ll open her heart to the man who’s learning he’ll break every taboo to keep her safe.

Meet the Author

I’m an author of romantasy, poems, and snark. I’m querying my debut novel, a futuristic scifi romantasy, called The Sunkillers.

I’m fascinated by collective decision-making, the responsibility that should be inherent to power, and sexy MMCs. In my day job, I’m an executive managing climate change strategy at a global insurance company. I’ve written about sustainability in a professional capacity for two decades. My job is to save the world; I fail on a daily basis. I live with my husband, daughter, son, grumpy old border collie, lanky trail running shepherd, a variable number of chickens, and many fruit trees.

Have you really not noticed how much I’ve struggled to contain my ramashan around you?”

I had no idea what he was talking about. “I haven’t. And I don’t know what that means.”

“I’m such an idiot,” he murmured. “It means I think you’re brave and kind and beautiful, and I long to stroke every part of your body until your eyes see all the stars of our galaxy and your lips cry my name. My magics burn with unrelenting desire for you.
